Once a working-class island cut off by the railway, Isola is now one of the most creative corners of Milan – and it sits just north of Taylor's Love Solferino B&B. Independent boutiques, vinyl bars and the two green towers of the Bosco Verticale make it a favourite for travellers who want the real, lived-in Milan a short walk from the centre.

Getting There from Our B&B

Isola is about a 10–12 minute walk (roughly 900 m) north from Via Solferino 56, or one stop on the M2 metro from Moscova (300 m from the B&B) to Garibaldi. From Porta Garibaldi FS (700 m) you can also take the Malpensa Express straight to the airport.

• Bosco Verticale – Stefano Boeri's award-winning "vertical forest" towers, planted with 20,000 trees and shrubs.
• Piazza Gae Aulenti – the raised modern square with fountains and the UniCredit Tower, Italy's tallest skyscraper.
